relationships are never easy
Standing like an idiot,
Transfixed under his spell.
Your legs won’t walk away,
Your lips have nothing to tell.

You choke on your heart,
As it leaps into your throat.
You feel yourself drowning,
Grabbing anything to stay afloat.

The words that were spoken,
Clearly meant squat.
Thrown aside never to be used again,
Simply left there to rot.

He shifts uneasily,
Waiting for your reply.
You say you’ll be fine,
Hoping he’ll believe your lie.

He won’t look in your eyes,
Afraid of what he may see.
He’d see your face become red,
And the tears running free.

As he walks away,
You can do nothing but stare.
Realizing no matter how hard you pinch,
You can’t wake up from this nightmare.

Now it’s all over,
And your life seems undone.
You don’t want to talk,
You just want to run.

Run into the night,
Where there’s nothing to see.
Hopefully no sadness,
And surely no glee.

He wasn’t worth it,
Some people say.
But wouldn’t I be not worth it,
If he ran away?

Oh how sad.
You had a good run.
That’s all they can say,
When a relationship is done.
