Love story of vampires, elves, and thieves. She fears others. He fears himself.
                                    Chapter One

Sitting silently in the shadows, he watched as the band of thieves entered one of the

well to do homes. He had done this every night for the past year and a half. Something

about this night seemed different, though. As he watched the group there was one

woman that caught his eye. Her hair was dark brown, her eyes golden brown. Typical

humans couldn't see in the dark of a new moon. Patton could. He wasn't a typical

human. In fact he wasn't human at all. His mother was an elf, his father one of the most

evil vampires in history. He and his brother had always been outcast by society. Now

even Gabriel, his beloved twin, had pushed him away. All because of his stupid whore

he would someday call wife. She was all wrong for him, but the stubborn, pigheaded,

idiot wouldn't listen to him. So Patton had exiled himself. He'd been out of contact with

both of his brothers and his sister since he'd left. That was fine by him. They didn't care

anyways. His attention went back to the house as a light flickered on.

Her feet hit the floor silently. Why had she agreed to do the sleeping floor?

Billy knew that she didn't do well on the sleeping floor. She sighed silently and

rummaged through a drawer in the hall. Nothing was in this one. ‘Damn' she thought.

She made her way to the bed chambers. Most people kept their valuables there,

unfortunately. She silently moved past the bed into the closet. She found a multitude of

jewels and valuables. As quickly she could, she put them in her satchel. This wasn't

the only life Fallon had known. She and Billy had found this life at the age of ten. That

was when they had left the hells of the orphanage. They had decided that they would

rather face death than continue the constant abuse of the orphanage. They had thought

that death was the only way out and that could be achieved in streets. The two had

ended up finding other kids that were on their own. Banding together they had created

one of the biggest contenders on the streets. The oldest was now eighteen. Fallon was

now sixteen. She never thought that she'd live that long. Her mother had certainly seen

that she wasn't worth anything. She'd already signed the papers by the eighth month of

pregnancy. Billy's parents had died in a house fire when he was an infant. He'd been

her best friend and partner in crime. She was pulled away from her memories when she

heard murmurs from the bed room. She crept past the bed, but someone grabbed her

leg. She let out a low whistle, the warning signal for the rest of the gang. Fallon tried to

pull away. There was a horrible crack as her ankle snapped. Thinking her immobile her

dropped her foot and went after the others. Fallon bolted up and hobbled for the door.

She made it down six of the eight floors. The man showed up with a large knife. It was

dripping a acid green liquid.

He lunged. She tried to spin around and dodge him, but her broken ankel wouldn't

support her weight. She fell right into the knife. The cut went from her knee all the way

to her hip. " That was poison you know. You'll be dead by morning, stupid bitch." Fallon

knew her only chance of getting out would be to trick thisd guy into carrying her out.

She slumped forward, slowing her breathing and her heart. She knew very little magic,

but she did know some. She cast the only spell she knew, Illusion. The man would see

her as dead. She felt his hand on her wrist. "Weak." He muttered as he picked her up

and carried her out into the street and down an alley. He threw her into a large pile of

trash. "Just where all thieves belong." He turned and left. Fallon waited until she

thought she was alone and pulled herself away from the garbage.

Patton watched as the human that owned the house carried out the pretty girl.

Something wasn't right.  He caught the sent of blood. It was thick with her sent. There

was also something else. Patton couldn't put his finger on it. He called on his inner

animal. He changed into a large eagle and flew after them. Sitting on the top of a

building he watched the man walk away. After a few minutes he saw her pull herself

from the pile of trash. She wasn't moving one leg, the other had been cut and was

bleeding severly.

Fallon finally looked at the cut on her leg. It was worse than she had originally

thought. She was trying to stop the bleeding, to no avail. Her lowly life flashed before

her eyes. She knew she would either bleed out or a werewolf or vampire would attack

her. She was going to die and no one would care. No one past Billy, Collin and the

gang. They wouldn't be able to do anything about her death, not without exposing

themselves. She had drilled that one into their heads.
