A story n the making, for fun in my spare time. -> Adventures of Princess Elizadinia.
In the faraway kingdom of Florence, there was born a child to the good King and Queen. It was their seventh so far, and all were girls. The King and Queen wished for a boy, so as to pass the throne down to, but it turned out to be another girl. They named her Elizadinia............

11 years later

"Elizadinia!", came the sharp yell of my fourth eldest sister.
"What", I yelled back. No answer.
Suddenly her sister stomped into her study room where she was trying to complete the work her French instructor gave her. She was having to translate the French sentences into English, and it was very tedious and boring.
"Where is my cat!" she accused, still yelling.
I pretended to ignore her. Even though she was older than me by 6 years, I considered her as younger than me in attitude. Her beauty was well known in the land beyond and many suitors wanted to marry her. In my mind, how can any man want to marry a person who acted the way she does?
When she noticed that I wasn't listening to her, she stomped over to the table I was sitting at, and toppled it over! Papers and ink went everywhere, destroying my hard work.
"How dare you ignore me in my presence!" she shrieked when I looked at her with angry green eyes.
"I didn't do anything to your putrid cat, Fantarsha!", I yelled. "And if I had, the better for everyone!"
You see, a couple months ago, she received this monstrous cat from one of her many suitors. All it does is tear everything up and attack anybody who gets near it. Many of the castle maids have deep scratch marks all over from when they were cleaning up Fantarshas' chambers. Anyways, she's completely adores it (how can she?) and I made the mistake of locking it up in a cupboard. It took days of searching the castle from the soldiers, servants, and everyone else to find it.
I admitted my act later and was restricted to my bedroom chambers for a week.
The cat and Fantarsha relate to each other, I think. I told father this when asked what I had to say for myself, and he laughed so hard. Mama looked at me disapproving.

She grabbed me by the hair and pulled me up to her face. I yelled out in pain as I tried to scratch her face off. "Let go of me!!!" I screamed.
A sneer crossed her pretty face and turned it ugly. "Not until you tell me what you-"
"What in Gods name is going on here!" came a voice from the doorway.
Both of us turned our faces to one of my tuders, who I guess was just arriving to teach me protocol and history. His aged face looked stricken and surprised.
Fantarsha let go of me, and I dropped to the ground with an "OW!"
Lord Dundry walked into the study room and glared at Fantarsha. "Get out and leave my student alone", he growled at her, pointing a sharp finger to the doorway. Fantarsha gave me one last nasty glare, and strode out.
I started the messy project of picking up the ink stained papers on the floor. "Here, let me help you", said Lord Dundry as he set the table upright. It was quite for a while as we both cleaned up.
"The King is going to hear about this.” he said with fury.
A look of horror crossed my face. "No!" I half yelled. "Please don't tell him about this. I don't want Fantarsha to have a reason later on to bother me more."
"But if your father doesn't know about this" continued Lord Dundry "then she won't leave you alone."
I sighed, exhausted. "I'll tell him myself" I lied. I knew that he was going to tell if I wanted him to or not, so I made a lie. He stared at my face, trying to see if I was just pushing him off, but I hid my expressions well.
"Good then" he exclaimed. "Now let us get to work on learning about the wars of your great ancestors, shall we?"

Later that day

I was very tired when I got to my bedroom chambers. My older sisters left a few hours ago to go to a grand ball of some sorts in a neighboring country. They would be there for a few days. It was all they could talk about for weeks:

"I wonder if his grace, Lord Dunchen dances with me" giggled Tatonia, my 3rd eldest sister. Lord Dunchen was told by many to be handsome and rich, every girls fantasy.
"In your dreams" retorted Sunshkin who was my 5th eldest sister. "I think that since I am the next oldest sister not married, the grace Dunchen will dance with me, and not some ugly nit twit like you."
Both her and Fantarsha laughed.

After our eldest sister Sharshka got married off to a King in a far away kingdom, Sunshkin became the next in line to marry, and also bossy and rude. I missed Sharshka much. She was nice and sweet and just the opposite of Fantarsha.
Sharshka didn't want to move away or get married. But the alliance between King Gordon of the country Castrican was important to our survival, so father made Sharshka marry him. Mother cried for days, and I could tell that father was sad too.
You see, before Sharshka married King Gordon, our land was in a terrible state. We had just finished fighting a war, and our supplies were used up, our people cold and starving, and everything was going to shambles. Sharshka was beautiful as much as she was kind and King Gordon heard of it. He fell in love with her and wanted her hand in marriage. King Gordon was wealthy beyond compare, and father couldn't see another way out of our depression.
On the marriage day of our eldest sister, the people of our land celebrated night and day. Everyone, except for us because we knew that Sharshka would live a lonely life with a man she did not love.

I was glad that I had the chambers to my self and that everything was quiet.

If you’re confused about my humongous family tree, here it is:

In the early morning, I woke up to the grand bell ringing. It startled me, because it was very loud. I listened intently to the sound of the tolls. It gonged 12 times, meaning mother was with child! I could hardly believe it! Even after having all of us, our parents were going to try again.
I hurriedly got dressed in a slip on dress, stockings, and slippers. It took me a while to get to the other side of the great castle where my mother was, in bed with a bunch of ladies in waiting surrounding her. Father was at her side, his expression glowed with happiness.
"Mother, Father" I breathed. After sprinting all the way to get here, I was out of breath.
My father laughed at me and my mother smiled. "Come here, my little Eliza" said my father with open arms. I ran to him and he pulled me into a tight hug. "Is it true, mama?" I asked. Her wary expression gave me a half smile. "Yes, honey, it’s true."
I smiled. I was going to have a little sister, or brother to watch over.
I gave my mother a hug, before the ladies in waiting shooed me away. I guess mama needed her rest and so I left reluctantly. Father stayed by her side though. I laughed to myself. The ladies in waiting wouldn't dare to shoo him away.

I made myself productive by riding my favorite horse, Peach Blossom. And she looked like a peach blossom too. She was like my best friend and I loved to talk to her.
"Guess what Peach Blossom?" I asked while I feed her some oats.
"Mama's going to have another child, and I'm about to become an older sister."
I smiled when peach blossom snorted.
"And I'm going to be the best sister ever. I won't be mean, or cruel, or bossy, or ignorant, or like Fantarsha or Sunshkin."
I couldn't wait until the day when the new addition to our family was born.

Winter and spring passed by quickly. It was full of studying various subjects, staying out of the way of Fantarsha, and playing around with my favorite sisters: Katrinia and Tatonia. They weren't mean to me, and loved to go outside and play in the snow or run about in the spring flowers. Sunshkin and Fantarsha hated the outdoors because they believed that it would destroy their 'perfect' complexions. Rosetta idolizes them, so she stays inside too. Why Rosetta does this, I do not know. I and she used to be the best of friends, but a few years ago she stopped talking to me and started to hang out with 'the cruel witches', my nicknames for them.

Mama has had her child!!!! It is a new day for us all, as me and my sisters go to meet our new sibling. The church bells in our country wouldn't stop ringing all day. I am happy to say that it is a boy! Papa was so very proud and Mama couldn't stop crying. I asked her if she was sad, but she said they were happy tears. Our parents decided to name him Yurkon II, after Papa.
My little brother doesn't stop crying and it hurts my ears. Was I such a pain like this when I was born?
But whenever Mama holds him, he becomes quiet and coos. I got to hold him for a little while too, and Father smiled at my expression. My face was full of wonder and curiosity.
"You look after your brother, my little Eliza" he said as I carefully handed him back to mama.
I grinned. "I'll be the best sister ever!"

I have recieved great news from Tatonia! Tomorrow is the corination of my little brother, and everyone in the land is invited. Tatonia told me that Sharshka is going to be here too! Oh my dear beloved sister. I haven't heard from her in such a long time.

Its sooooooo hard to go to bed! I am very excited and tomorrow is going to be a very big day. Every castle servent and maid has been setting up the grand ball room with beautiful gold and white decorations. Thats our lands colours: Gold and white. Our flag is pretty to me. It depicts a gold lion on a white background with the loin rearing up at the sky on his hind legs. Father told me the story of how our flag came to be and why it depicts a lion. When I was five, father used to tell me night time tales about magic and faries and all kinds of supernatural stuff.
I was tucked into my bed between the silk sheets when father entered. "Hey my little munchkn" he said. I laughed. Father liked to call me munchkn and all other things. Some say that I am one of fathers favorite daughters. Anyways, lets get back to the story.
He set himself on the side of my bed and sighed. I guess he had a long day of politic mettings and signing forms. Remember that this was when we were in the depression and fathers treasury was almost banckrupt.
"Daddy?" I asked, worried. My father wiped away his tired expression and gave me a smile to reasure me. "It's alright, little muchkin. Don't worry your young mind about whatever it is you are worrying about. Daddy's going to do the best he can, and we will get through this."
I was silent for a while. Then..
"Little one of mine, do you know the story of how our flag came to be?" he asked.

It was way back in time, when everything as you know it didn't exist. It was a time when magical creatures walked the earth and supernatural beings dwelled in the sky. It was peaceful, and everything had its balance and order. But dark days came, as evil reared its ugly head and plunged the lands into darkness and war. Fighting began, and the first humans walked the earth. After a couple hundred years, the magic disappeared and the lands became torn and divided. The sea washed away most of it, and the rest was ruled by many tribes. Soon the tribes chose kings to ruled them, and a few hundred years after that, armies were built and castels and everything as we know it now. Wars for more land were still fought and many people died. We came from a tribe in the north. The name of it has been forgotton, but the story of that tribe has not. We were outnumbered in one of the wars. The death of our King was before his face, breathing its stale breath. Then out of nowhere lunges out a great gold lion. It was huge!  It jumped out to protect our King and slaughtered many of our foes. It disapeared as quickly as it came, and our flag represents that mysterious tale of that long ago day.

I listened to the whole story with wide eyes, eager for more. But Father was finished, and he kissed me goodnight on my forehead and left. It was one of the last stories he ever told me and would be one of the stories that I would never forget.

Back to the Present

"Get up Elizadinia!" a sharp voice disturbed the wonderful dream I was having and I woke up with a startle.

My sister Katrinia was dressed in her formal robes and her personal tiara was on her already decorated hair. My chamber was dark because the heavy drapes were still closed. I noticed with shame that I had accidentally left my oil lamp burning and that I must have been asleep for hours past dawn!

"Elizadinia, we are all supposed to down for the corination right this moment!" she yelled at me. "Father is going to be furious and you know that its going to take at least an hour to get ready!"

In a panic, I sruffed myself out of bed and ended up getting tangled in the covers and landed on the floor with a loud thup. Tatonia rushed into my room and stopped next to Katrinia. "I heard a noise" she said and then noticed me on the floor.

After a bit of laughter from my two sisters, they both decided to help me prepare. Some servents were called in to help also. The whole entire court and most of the lands population and my parents were waiting on me. Could I have picked a better time to be late!?

Soon, I was dressed in my own set of formal robes. My colours were a deep set of navey blue, a pretty sea green, and pearly white. Everyone of my sisters had thier own set of colours.

A servent finished braiding my redish orange hair and my pearl tiara was placed on top. I don't have to worry about make-up yet like my other sisters do, so I was done.

It took around an hour!
When I entered the grand ballroom, billions of eyes turned to me. I blushed a bright red and quickly paced to my Mama's and Papa's thrones. My brothers cradel was placed next to Mama.
As all does, I curtsied to them for my lateness and took my usual seat next to Papa. Where was Sharshka? I couldn't find her anywhere! I thought she was supposed to arrive this morning?

In the corner of my eye, I could see him give me a disapproving look. I pretended not to notice as the jugglers and acrobats came in to entertain us.
After that, all the gifts were presented to the young prince and people said prayers that my young brother should live long and prosper to an old age.
Then we all retired to the outside court yard and castle grounds for a feast and activities. There was jousting and all sorts of games. It was the biggest event I had ever witnessed. You basically got to roam were ever you wanted and participate in any games, eat, gossip, etc.

There was a boy of 14 who was very persistant on me. What I mean to say is that he kept following me and trying to talk. No doubt he was trying to court me, but I already know how to deal with this. I have been chased around ever since I was old enough to walk and was warned by my parents to not take every thing a boy says honestly. Because of my rank and wealth, people will try to take advantage of that by promising love.
I ended up ditching him in the maze garden. *laugh* The maze garden never fails!

Now pay close attention, because this is where the story gets really wierd. In the next couple of months, my life was turned upside down and I felt horrible and alone.
