It's just a poem I wrote for another site's contest.
Leaves blow through the nights wind
As I hope and wish my heart might mend
I can remember being told
Of this feeling, so lonely and cold
But I'm sure I'll be fine
I just have to piece together this shattered heart of mine
That you so kindly left behind
I've been tearing my mind apart
Wanting to understand why
Without a word of good bye
You would just leave me
And take with you my heart's key
Perhaps it was for the best
Maybe this whole thing was some sort of test
But I've had trouble telling that to my crushed heart
The one you threw out like a useless part

I sit here staring at the moon
Waiting for the stars that are to come out soon
Trying to think of what went wrong between you and me
And why we couldn't be
Guess all things must have an end somewhere
Even if they are hard to bear
It seemed when you walked away
On that cold day
That you forgot about everything that happened between us
But than suppose if you were here
You'd just ingore these dear
