Is It Worth It? , and Shades of Red
Is it Worth it??

Standing at the stove thinking,
when did life turn into this mundane mess.
The hissing from the pot boiling over,
snaps me from my trance,
Just one more thing.
Looking over at the man I once,
thought I couldn't live without,
as he sits watching TV,
not even noticing me anymore.
Longing to hold a real conversation with an adult,
that isn't about bills and bad news.
To be able to go out and do what I want,
once without a fight.
Is it all worth it?
Seems like life is reduced to,
screaming children and dirty dishes,
There has to be more!

Shades of Red

Fire blazed in her eyes,
As she watched him with her.
She felt her face get hot,
And knew her anger showed..

Scattered memories flashed threw her mind,
Their first date, their wedding, their daughters birth.
Was he really willing to throw it all away,
For this lady in the tiny red dress?

He orders another round,
Leans over and whispers in her ear.
For a brief moment her face matches her dress,
Then she giggles and goes for her coat.

She should have known,
All the signs were there,
Phone calls with no one there,
Working late every night.

The smug look is wiped from his face,
As she walks over to him.
She slips her ring from her finger,
And into his Vodka and Coke.
