What is the true face of real happiness?
Chapter 1- Diverse Persona
“Hey, what time is it?”

“It’s past seven...”

“Ahhh… Ok… Thanks…”

“WHAT? IT’S PAST SEVEN IN THE MORNING?!” Angelo anxiously exclaimed, because he’s now late for today’s classes. His cousin, Kelvin, now attired and ready for school, waited for him to fix up.

“Ok now, I’m ready… Let’s go!” Angelo rushed down the stairs when the books he’s holding fell and… BOOM! He came rolling down by the stairs.

“Ouch… Ouch, it hurts!” Angelo shouted.

“It’s the scene every now and then… A nerdy fourth year high school lad cramming on the way, and there it goes again, the nerd meets a disaster,” Kelvin told Angelo with a tease.

“Yes, I knew it… Besides, I get used to it,” Angelo answered him.

“But until when will you get used to it? Aren’t you tired of being a mishap?” Kelvin asked once more.

“I don’t know… But all I know is that we need to hurry… The campus gate will be closed by 7:30!” Angelo picked up his things and left his house, without taking any breakfast.

As the two walked the street to the school, Mr. Simon has just arrived and is about to close the gate.

“Hey wait! Mr. Simon! Please stop, we’re coming!” Angelo yelled and pleaded to Mr. Simons.

“Eeerrr… Mr. Rivera?! Is this true? It’s my first time to see you coming to school… LATE!” Mr. Simon spoke in eerie-like manner.

“Oh please, Mr. Simon… It’s just my first time, and I promise that you’ll never see me late again,” Angelo begged Mr. Simon once more as the two of them are now in front of the gate.

“That’s your consequence, Angelo… That’s the consequence of being with Mr. Kelvin Ferrer… Well, Kelvin, it doesn’t surprise me to see you again here… You’re late as ever!” Mr. Simon now spoke to Kelvin, who is now thinking of ways of how to get in. Suddenly, Kelvin complained about his aching stomach.
“Ouch! My tummy! It hurts!” Kelvin cried in pain.

“Hey, Kelvin… What’s the matter?” Angelo worriedly asked his cousin.

“My stomach gets bad when I have nothing to eat in the morning… Ouch! I need to call my mom! She knows how to treat my stressed tummy,” Kelvin replied to him, and also asking for some help.

“But how can I call your mom? I haven’t bought any cell phones yet,” Angelo asked Kelvin back.

“There, the phone of Mr. Simon… Asked him to lend you his phone so that you can call my mom,” Kelvin told him of what to do. As Mr. Simon, also worried about Kelvin’s situation, lend his phone to Angelo for the call, Kelvin quickly got up and ran through the gate.

“Hey! Kelvin! Come back! Oh no, I was fooled once again!” Mr. Simon loudly shouted.

“It’s been always, Mr. Simon… Haha!” Kelvin mocked at Mr. Simon and had make-face as he escaped from the austere old man.

“Hey, Kelvin, wait for me!” Angelo is about to enter the gate when Mr. Simon blocked his way.

“Not yet, Mr. Rivera… I’m not letting anyone to trick me again!” Mr. Simon angrily told Angelo with his fierce eyes looking at him.

“As your punishment, you will clean the entire garden until break time, is that clear?” Mr. Simon asked Angelo.

“But I need to attend my first class… It’s Physics, you know, and I don’t want to miss that,” Angelo begged Mr. Simon once again.

“NO! You will clean the garden until break time, is that clear?!” Mr. Simon mercilessly shattered Angelo’s plea to attend his class.

Angelo was very disappointed of what has happened. He didn’t want to miss his class for the day. Suddenly, he heard a voice coming from nowhere.

“Hey, Angelo, come here! Quick!” the voice told him.

“Who are you?” Angelo was clueless of who is calling him. He looked anywhere, finding where the voice is coming from.

“Do you still want to get into your class? Come on, ride with me,” the voice spoke to him once again.

Angelo looked at the car just beside him. The one calling him was Sarah, his close friend. She was riding with

“Thank you, Sarah… You’re such a good friend,” Angelo told Sarah.

“No problem, Angelo… You’re my friend, and by the way, are you done with the research paper in Physics this quarter?” Sarah asked Angelo.

“Haha! Just as what I thought… There is always something in exchange for your help… Ok, I’ll make you a copy of it,” Angelo told her.

“Thanks, Angelo! You’re really a good friend!” Sarah told him with a hug.

The car has entered the campus, and Angelo successfully attended his Physics class. Unfortunately for him, his classmates, who keep on bullying him, have something for him for the day.

“Hey, Angelo… Give me your research paper in Physics. We need to finish ours,” Roger, the bully, told Angelo.

“No, I won’t… You mustn’t be like that, you must learn how to do it for yourself,” Angelo answered.

“Haha! And what else can you do? Hey guys, get his bag!” Roger started to mock at Angelo.

“No! Don’t!” Angelo refused to give them their bag.

Roger was able to get Angelo’s research paper, but instead of copying its content, he just threw it out of the window.

”No! Please!” Angelo can’t do anything, so he just decided to find where his papers are.

Finally, he saw the papers on the roof of the school’s office. He slowly went up to the roof to get the research papers that he worked on hard, when he heard someone talking inside.

“The records are just here, but I don’t think that the yakuza cares for this information. Are you sure that one of the students here is the target?”

Angelo heard this clearly when he accidentally slipped down of the roof. He lost his consciousness. Just as he fell down the roof, the man he heard speaking was alarmed and went out immediately. Luckily for Angelo, Mr. Lester, his Physics teacher, has searched for him and found him unconscious. He was brought into the clinic to aid him.

On the other hand, the man of whom Angelo heard in the office has returned into his place of what he calls to be a hideout. He removed the mask that covers the half of his face and called for his comrades.

“Hey, felons, show your ugly faces out… It’s me, and I have something to tell you,” the man called for his group.

“Oh, Michael… You’re a little bit fast, how come you came this early?” a stunning lady showed up and asked him.

“Oh, Janna… Well, someone caught me at the Metropolitan School a while ago,” he uttered.

The man in the Angelo’s school is Michael, and he is not related to Angelo or to anyone in the school. He is a member of the most powerful and feared clan of the Yamaguchi-gumi yakuza in Japan. He is the future “kumicho” or the next leader of their clan in line. A yakuza leader as he is, he adopted the gangster ways and thoughts of the group. His reason for going in school is definitely not for learning educational lessons. There’s something important that he has to check out.
