First chapter of every humans worse nightmare. The dead rise and the world is no more.
The Clouds gathered together as the sky deepend to a smokey grey. Heather could feel the warm mist, like feeling cling to her soft skin. All she knew was that it was nearing 5pm and that the sun would cease to shine soon. She glanced up at the clouds and knew that it would be dark and it would be unsafe to be alone with out backup or a gun. Heather bent down and picked up her iron rod and back back. The back pack weighed about 20lbs from all the can goods she has been collecting during sunlight.
Clicking noise and static from Heather's walkie-talkie startled her.She reached down to her waist and pressed the sides to communicate to the other end of that connection." I'm at least 15 mins. on foot from base.I know John dont worry.I've done this plenty of times.I KNOW! this isn't Chicago anymore.... dont send me out then if you think i cant handle a food scavenge." Heather slid the walkie-talkie in her pocket and sprinted towards the base where john waited to give her a ear full of scolding.
Heather reached the electric fence that wraped around an old college building and signaled the guard on the roof  to be let in. she felt the rain drops trickle down her back as she waited."WHAT THE HELL CREG? !!",she taped her black combat boots on the cracked garbage littered floor. A rustling noise arose from behind her. As if someone or something was draging there feet. A awful decaying smell sorrounded the area where she stood. It smelled like rotten meat and waist from the human body. She let the back pack drop from her shoulders and took a deep breath as she clenched the iron rod with both strong petite hands. no matter how many times she did this , she would never be use to it. In the back of her mind she thought one day she could come across her parents and might not have the guts to carry through with it.
Heather turned around and stared directly at the once living thing, She clenched her teeth and hled back the vomit that wanted to escape. The smell was unbeareable but the sight was worse. The creature no doubt was a male. He stumbled towards her with foggy eyes, and his limbs seem to be giving out . He reached out both his huge overweight arms and fell foward. Hetaher placed her right boot on his back and rose the iron rod above her head and swung down with brute froce aiming at the zombies head. A crack formed but that wasnt enough to stop the decayed being on the floor. It twitched and moaned trying to rise but Heather's foot stayed firmly placed on his back. The rain began to fall harder, making it a advatage for her because the creature kept sliping on the trash on the floor. She swung the rod down  a few more times and put the sad crature to rest. black-green-ish blood stained her pants and boots. The gate swung open and she picked her back pack up and quickly entered. The gates closed behind her locking that world out behind her.
