Your beauty & tragedy thru my eyes
With a kinetic compulsion and a water-smooth flow
I can float you on words you've never heard.
See perfection in my potential and
identify with things I swear I never said
when I sing and rage from an attention-center stage.

I have the voice but another has the song.
Soprano, trying to hit baritone notes
with a silent sinner's wail I don't believe in.

Sometimes saying nothing so beautifully...
an echo that can't bear repeating.
So many follow as I dance from life to life to strife
through castles made of praise
trailing shimmering crimson pools I never notice.

Spinning, placing feet exactly where they've
been before, until
my soul is as dizzy as my head.

You can try to combine by winding, entwining
until it's twisted too tight, and I spring.
I'll give all the appearance of interest and
hang on every word
while I wait for something else to save me.

I'm a dreamer seeking the source of dreams,
so touchable I can't be reached.
I've been betrayed...it was an inside job,
a childhood set-up I see right through...
I fall for it every time.

I'm so fitfully frenetic because
I'm running out of time faster
than I'm running out of excuses.
Afraid enough of the future
To make desperate deals with the devil (myself).

All I want is everything and
I'm willing to settle for less
to leave it where I left it, lying,
Crying from my deepest depths of this ocean
You let me see through your eyes.
