The portrait of a Native American asks this of Christopher Columbus.
Braveheart Bigfeather pointed aggressively at the blue-robed figure before him.

"You have violated our land!"

Columbus snorted and looked mischievously at his band of unrepentant seamen.

"We've come to civilise you and to make you Christians!"

"We care not for your words. We are peace-loving, and we live in harmony with Nature. I am aware, though, that you will conquer us, and I rue the day you set foot near what you call the New World."

"Indeed. So, stop complaining. We mean well."

Thus spake Christopher Columbus. And, remorselessly, set to destroy what he had discovered, forever.
