Just a bit of poetical personification.
The Overlord Moon
Now jaundiced and gibbous
Hung over the stolen night sky.
While a great host of clouds,
So heavy and black,
Gathered close round his pale yellow eye.

The multitude clouds,
They boiled in a maelstrom
Full of fury and passionate might.
As the sylphs of the wind,
So strong yet unseen,
Battled long to reclaim the night.

The Overlord Moon
Gazed down on his pawns
As he breathed the last of the night.
For he saw to the east
come a glorious beast
To scatter his minions with light.
