This is a poem inspired by the Biblical account of the woman accused of adultery.

JUDGMENT WITHHELD

Soul
alone
trembling
fallen at His
feet, surrounded by
her accusers, dirty.
He crouches to her level.
Involuntarily, she waits.
Anticipated judgment for sin
never comes, and their eyes finally meet.

The lover of her soul has forgiven.
(Stricken consciously by their own sin,
shame runs her accusers away.)
Neither do I condemn you.
Go, and sin no more.
/1/  With
virtue restored and
redemption sure,
she departs ~
a clean
start.
