This is what writing is to me

Consumed by my thoughts,
Ink pours out of my pen,
Uncontrollably I scribble,
Locked away in my den.

Feelings of love, hatred, and fear,
Flood into my brain,
Like bees they sting me,
With an unbearable pain.

In a state of madness,
My mind runs wild,
Helpless I let it take over,
Like a demanding child.

Consumed by my thoughts,
Words trickle off my tongue,
They come from a mind,
That is still very young.

I speak of things,
I sometimes don't understand,
But I always obey,
My body's demand.

Consumed by my thoughts,
My body takes charge,
My blood races through me,
Pumping so fast my heart becomes large.

I was born a writer,
And I cherish this gift,
I have a job on this earth,
I share my thoughts and many souls I will lift.
