It is a contemporary poem about missing someone after they're gone.

911-No Need to Pick up

Ambulance sirens resonate with poise
Someone is hurt and it is official
An everlasting association: ambulance sirens to declare pain

But what if your pain has no siren?
What if your wound is too deep to be cured?
Some injuries are not to be acknowledged
Some injuries cannot be rushed to the ER

When I think of you, my invulnerability surrenders
Every feeling I’ve ever drowned inside me floats to prick me

I miss your primitive lectures
I miss your bizarre sexual jokes
I miss the potential husbands you bring home to me
But most importantly
I miss you

I was happy with my invulnerability
until you were gone
I feel again
I hurt again
But sirens are not here to save me.
