Poem, written during first visitation at the park
Cool breeze blows across my back
Sun is shining down
Bathing the grass in warmth
Picture perfect, crystal blue, painted sky



Children running, laughing, playing
A dad and his son play catch
On a nearby field.
Birds chirp overhead


Quietly aware, I am
Observant
Seeing life again through
Unclouded, open eyes
Realization hits me
Love is lost.

And I'm okay with that.
