After a beloved hamster's death, at the grave.
"I'll never forget you, Snowball," I whispered, gently touching the stone that marked my beloved hamster's grave. Tears ran down my cheeks as I put flowers over the stone and sat down, crying my heart out, with the trees whispering in sympathy.
I don't know how long i sat there, even after i was dried of tears. I sighed, and then, feeling a hand on my shoulder, looked up into my best friends face, full of concern.
When she saw the words on the grave stone, she quickly bent down, giving me a hug. I put my arms around her, never wanting to let go. She stroked my hair, saying nothing, swaying gently.
After a while she let go and looked into my face. I could see her eyes were red and her cheeks were wet. She helped me to my feet, still silent, knowing nothing but kindness could soothe me.
