A metaphor for the love I once found in someone
The quest began so long ago.
Its splendid end I did not know.

A fog concealed that warming light
For which I searched, but saw no sight.

I wandered through the looming wood
Where some light shone, but not for good.

At times a bloom would catch my eye;
Such vibrant hues I'd pass not by.

But through the violent wind and rain,
The colors were all that remained.

Brambles snared and sought control,
As solitude tore at my soul.

The lonesome path extended wide
The echoes of a single stride.

When doubt began to fill my core,
And I thought I could take no more,

The callous clouds did then relent,
And kindly blessed my heart’s lament.

There was, at last, atop the crest
The sight that put my heart to rest.

The signal of my journey’s end
Though hard it was to comprehend.

They said “The light will lead you true.”
I followed it and I found you.
