A Poem about emptiness and composure.
An ever-present abyss
is Chewing
Away at the weathered walls of my insides.
All day long, it threatens to
Engulf
my soul.
Only, I have no spirit left for it to break.

My hollow body is an imprisonment of
Emptiness.
The lighted hours crawl past,
As my energy is consumed by:
Those Three Letters.
Deeply Lost in:
Those Three Letters.
Desperately shoving
A.L.S.
to the back of my fear-laden mind.

I Force a false smile.
Pretend
I am Fine,
on the Outside,
I Am
Internally, drowning in grief.
Within, Smothered in Sorrow,
Clenched
in Confusion and Worry.

When weary from this daily struggle,
I succumb to the
Swallow
of the ruthlessly painful
Void.
