This is one of my old highschool poems. It's basically about elusive thought and writing.
A thought comes
Out of the blue.
You aren't ready,
But it came through.

Through mind and memory
Does it soar
Leaving time
At the door.

The day is dimming
From light to shade,
And you're still thinking,
"What should I have made?"

Always wondering,
Regardless of time
Still pondering
"What is there to find?"

From nine to eleven
And eleven to one,
You're still at it
Seeking, "What should I have done?"

And then
When it finally hits two,
You've got it.
No more thinking, "What to do?"

As you finish
The very last line,
You're feeling good
Thinking, "This is mine!"

Then you look it over,
And start to doubt
"It just doesn't seem right.
Have I left something out?"

"Where did I go wrong?
What did I do?
Why, why, why?"
You don't have a clue.

Don't you worry though
Cause as the words fly by
You'll find a way to put them together
Even if it does take all tomorrow night.
