Another old poem of mine.. A shadowed heart and a leaf speak of the end...
A shadow
Once a lonely soul
Walked in the snow,
Winter's toll.

The shade
He asked falling leaf
"By why doest thou fade
On still wreath?"

"All things do die
To find life again,
So shall we all fly
To the skyward glenn."

"But thou flee
Not soar on height.
All I can see
Is the coming of night."

"Oh evil sight,
It does deceive you
For there is light
When death on dew."

"Oh flickering life
Do not go!
What about dark night
Upon betrodden snow?"

"Can you not feel
The warmth of spirit?"
"Nay, mine heart is still.
I do but fear it!"

"Seek that fire
Oh tired shade
For need is dire
Or thou shalt fade!"

"Do not leave
Dying friend
Near is eve
Guide me 'til end!"

"Sorrowful shadow
I can not stay.
My time is now,
Yours far away."

"How will I find...
What shall I do?"
But 'twas to late
Falling on dew.
