My hands lie flat
As I fisted and cut my palms.

For the first time I felt a simmering disturbance
In my heart,

A thing that inflamed my empty shell;
Ashes to ashes,

And dust to dust.
I vanished and was no more.

Fist in the air
Covered with blood and ashes and flame

A rebirth,
A sign that all things breathed,

Yet I suffocated.
