Drunken abuse... ends
The contents of the tequila bottle splash wildly inside
as you knocked me against the table.
I know what comes next.
I cry out as the back of your hand
makes contact with my face
causing my lip to burst in a spray of blood,
but I know that you don't care.
I have allowed this to continue for three years,
but now I've finally had enough.
You strike me once more
before I squirm out of your reach.
I run for the cabinet in which your pistol is concealed.
It is loaded just as I assumed it would be.
Before you could register what was happening
I turned on you and fired the gun.
BANG!
"This is the end of your alcoholic ways!"
I scream as you collapse against the table.
BANG!
"This is the end of your continuous abuse!"
You, along with the tequila bottle, fall to the floor.
I stop long enough to watch you squirm
and the last of the tequila soak into the carpet.
I see the revulsion in your eyes as you struggle for breath,
and wonder what I'd done to you.
What reason did you have to treat me the way you did?
You try to reach the tequila bottle
which brought me out of my daze.
Then, with a deep breath, I pulled the trigger again.
BANG!
Your eyes flutter and then close.
Your breaths cease.
I hear sirens in the background, but I am not concerned.
I am relieved.
I pick up the tequila bottle and smile faintly.
"Darling," I said sweetly,
"Like the empty tequila bottle, this is finally the end."
I smashed the bottle on the floor where you rest
then headed out the door to meet my fate.
