I was very idealistic when I was younger, but I grew up
I thought I knew what love was
As a young man

Knowledge of its betrayal
Changed my soul

I am older now
Aged in my sentiment

Darkness corrupts my ideals
Inside and out

Where does that leave me
And you

Does duty call me
Or something more

Does my heart remember
What my mind took away

Do I gouge out my eye
To control the beast

Is there another way
To heal my heart
