Just the feelings that I had at a time in my life....
Sometimes life throws you a slider
I remember those nights, laying there beside her
I can still hear that front door slamming
But she didn't leave my heart broken or battered
The best thing she ever did was walk out of that door
'Cause I really couldn't take the cold anymore

I was the shoulder she could cry on, if her tears didn't turn to ice
And when I looked into her eyes, I saw a cold, dark winter night
When I touched her skin, was as cold as an Eskimo
I really couldn't take the cold anymore

I remember when she'd roll over just to fall a sleep
So I'd roll the other way, and pray for some heat
You'd think with all those blankets, we'd a been on fire
Yet the room was so cold, no burning desire
Then she'd go and kick all those blankets to the floor
I really couldn't take the cold anymore

I was the shoulder she could cry on, if her tears didn't turn to ice
And when I looked into her eyes, I saw a cold, dark winter night
When I touched her skin, was as cold as an Eskimo
I really couldn't take the cold anymore

Late in December, snows falling to the ground
Turn the heater almost all the way down
Since that front door slammed, no need to have it on
'Cause she took the chill with her, now it's all gone
The best thing she ever did was walk out of that door
"cause I really couldn't take the cold anymore
