This is about someone who is lost in their life, who doesn't know what to do next.
In the end he says we're always left and-
I know it's true
He says it's not that life's not fair
It's what you let it do to you
So I wouldn't keep on hoping
Because people can't tell exactly what you're thinking

He says our hearts are almost empty
Void of all emotion
But I don't think that I have a heart to keep on breaking
And I shouldn't keep on hoping
Because people can't tell exactly what you're thinking

We each carry a bundle of shapes in
Which we carry our thoughts and-
Occasionally there's someone with a heart that's actually beating

In the end I'm always left and-
He knows it's true
I said it's not that I don't try
It's that I don't know what to try to do
And maybe I don't need to keep on hoping
Because at least he can tell exactly what I'm thinking

I've been thinking about shapes and-
I have everything but a heart to keep on breaking
