This is about a man who was too dependent on others and took too many risks.
You always folded a little too late
You never cared if you lost anyway
I said "I'm not playing your game anymore"
I can't count how many times
You left your cards in my hand
But this time all of your cards are gone
Why didn't you just hold on?
You never seemed to realize
That we all only have one life
And when the game's over
That means it's the end
You either lose or you win

You always folded a little too late
You never cared if you lost anyway
But this time all of your cards are gone
Why didn't you just hold on?

Now Fate's dealing out the cards again
And this time I'm not going to hold your hand
You're going to have to do it by yourself
I remember you at least tried to win it back
But you always ended up losing in the end

You always folded a little too late
You never cared if you lost anyway
But this time all of your cards are gone
Why didn't you just hold on?

You always folded a little too late
I'm sorry but there isn't another game for you
You lost again and now you're through

You always folded a little too late
You never cared if you lost anyway
I remember you at least tried to be my friend
But you always ended up hurting me
And yourself in the end

You always folded a little too late
You never cared if you lost anyway
But this time all of your cards are gone
Why didn't you just hold on?
