A poem about learning to trust love again...
My heart flutters in my hand
tentatively it looks over the edge and considers taking flight. It stretches out its still broken wings and remembers the pain of the fall. It turns and leaps back into my chest and trembling covers its eyes. 'Not yet, not yet' it murmurs ,and reaches to swing closed the rib cage door.

My heart flutters in my hand
tentatively it looks over the edge and considers taking flight. It stretches out its slightly scarred wings and remembers love at first sight. It skips a beat and takes on a new glow... perhaps it is time, I nudge it forwards. It stumbles and remembers the pain of the fall. It turns and leaps back into my chest and trembling covers its eyes. 'Not yet, not yet' it murmurs, and reaches to swing closed the rib cage door.

My heart flutters in my hand
tentatively it looks over the edge and considers taking flight. It stretches out its faintly marked wings and remembers love at first sight. It skips a beat and takes on a new glow... perhaps it is time. I say nothing, I watch, I wait. It looks at me, and smiles. Then leaps  and takes flight.
