My first contribution, a beginner's poem exploring the intimidating nature of writing.
An Expression

The vastness claws this stooping mind
For such light that shines to blind
Emitted at that genius of others
Struggling for voice, my own words to find.

And fear, and fear, it strikes the heart
For nought of whimper, nor fitful start
Finds its way to this hateful page
And a destiny, through doubt is torn apart.

Death over life we may choose
When as mortal wound we see this bruise
But defeat it cannot be
For denial of self, is to lose.

And so it is, this chorus of light
Should give the fledgling purpose of flight
Not to the shadows of the cowed
But those airy lofts of intangible height.

Desolation bespeaks, though it perverse
Of words and pages, the solemn verse
Of hope, of love and life to be
The magnificent, eternal universe.
