A poem about uncontrollable yet hidden desire
I wish hands were enough to
Stave you off.  Yet all hands will do
Is draw you deeper still -
Deeper into the ivy of
Me.

Words are all we will ever have.
Words and stolen glances in
Public places - never private.
Never personal.  Only me without
You.

That invisible boundary between heaven
And hell can never be crossed.  Must never be
Crossed, regardless of feelings.
Regardless of the
Desire

To touch and be touched.  Our hearts must
Forever be encased in
Barbed wire until - nightly -
In dreams, the boundary burns; our fingers
Touch

And temptation can be slated in one
Uncontrollable burst of explosive lust.
The barbed wire breaks and we,
Finally, are one . .
Reality

Rings through the clock; dreams stop
And once again I lose you.
Lose my heart.  My soul.  No longer whole.
Broken.

I wish hands were enough to
Stave you off - I know
They
Are
Not.
