written in 1964 after my uncle was run down by a drunk
Too soon too sudden you were gone
To a beautiful land afar.
God took your hand and led you there
Guided by a star.

We shed tears from our aching hearts
We tried hard not to cry
But it is hard not to remember
There wasn’t time to say goodbye

Your memory to us is a keepsake
From which we will never part
As God has you in his keeping
You are always in our heart
