This is a poem that describes anger as a physical sickness.
One scratch upon the patches of my tattered heart,
the spilt contents of tears and unenriched blood
consumes my being from the inside out.
This unseen conbination causes decay in my bowels.
The anger,
like a gas is released from the mixture to the surface of my skin
spelling words of hatred,
like a scarlet letter.
These words sink back into my being
to permantly mark my spirit
with a laugh of hatful victory.
The scratch,
caused by a spike
laced with poison sickens me.
Lord,
please harden my heart so that I may not be devoured.
