A poem written for my kids
Home is not a destination
    You find upon a map.
It's not a house, a town, a place
To which you must go back.

Home's that special feeling
    Tucked deep within you heart.
Wrapped in sweet, sweet memories
Of where you got your start.

It's being loved and cherished
And safe to be - just you.
It's that special, loving feeling
Shared by just a certain few.

Home's the quiver in your father's voice
As he struggles hard to hide
The feelings overwhelming him
When he looks at you with pride.

It's your mothers silent little prayer
    Whispered in the night
As she remembers tiny babies
And longs to hold them tight.

So, please come home and visit
    You'll find us waiting there
To take a walk down memory lane
And the special times we shared.

And when that fateful day arrives
    When we're no longer here.
Just take that walk down that same lane
    You'll find us waiting there.
