A poem about a dead loved one.

By the horizon
I wait for you
heart warm
soul stripped of layers
showing only the purest core

By the phone
I sit in shock
soul closed and no longer on display
heart now an ice cube

By the cemetery
I stand outside the gates
daring my self to have the memory
of or soon to be final good-bye
stuck in my head; burned in my bones

By the casket
seeing you now, yet imagining before
Praying you made it to the gates of heaven
Going out through the gates of the grave yard

By your side
I am with you again
no longer waiting
for the horizon
where I pictured
you would one day
come again
