The Moon is threatened but has Valiant Rescuers most unexpected.
Day 5 -"Haunted, or Hunted?" Pick one and show me a story - Narrative poetry time!
28 lines, quatrains abab, tetrameter.

The gibbous moon should ride serene,
Light spilling over brimming lips,
Yet she skitters behind gaunt tree,
The world into dark shadow slips.

Keening wind ravages shelter,
Rips away modest cloudy cloak,
No respite shall now be dealt her,
By the Dark Lord she is bespoke.

A grey familiar leaps, witch-consort;
Yellow fangs bared and back arched high.
Soon they’ll all come; clan and cohort -
Spell and frenzy shall call them nigh.

But Lo! Here shines kindly beam,
A grinning pumpkin - here’s two more.
There’s promise in their spreading gleam,
They flicker bright at every door.

Shapes flee, like the cowards they are,
Hunters - now hunted, disappear
Into dark lairs from lands afar.
They shall not haunt our street this year!

She gathers round her tattered cloak
Of grey clouds, rent by lightning spears
She had cowered when Thunder spoke
Stars twinkle comfort, soothing fears.

In Sky’s blue heart she does belong
She sends waxen beam, safe once more.
Let us sing now of these brave strong
Knight Pumpkins Brigade of Three Score.
