Letter to Eve
Eve,

Everyone wants an angel

Something they can cradle

Hold my hands as I give you part of me

Let you breathe because of me

And what more could you want of me

The ultimate gift

Yet you seem unsatisfied

I walk through the blades

Determined to find a path

Short

Cuts

Although not necessarily easier

Deleted messages I don't want to see.

Misused fruitful acts

Misconstrued beautiful acts

Taken

Misled down the left path

Because conversing with strangers will get us in trouble

I am

Patiently waiting for my turn

Patiently waiting for your turn

Because I know

If you jump then we jump together

And if you get caught we are tried together

And if you are excommunicated then we sprout wings together

Fly together

Into an unconventional place

And are immediately forgiven

…Together

Because you are a part of me

Because there is no I in We

And because I need to protect you

I will eventually warn you

To

Get up and relocate to the sand

Because Snakes lie in the grass

And now I lie there too.

Sincerely,

Adam
