A lesser known fable rewritten by me.
It was but another average day. Many animals roamed freely across the lands. The way it should be, where serenity is eternal and everyone is at peace with each other. The laws of nature still applied here, lions hunted deer and such, they had to- or how would they survive without food.  Situated smack bang in the middle of this quiet country land, a small family lived. They kept themselves to themselves and where never cruel or harsh to the wildlife. They helped stranded animals and they watered the plants.
The animals new not to bother with the family, they where friends and they shouldn't intrude on their property.
However, as Jenny went to get a sandwich from the Cabernet, a scorpion submerged and stung her on the hand she screamed out in pain. Her mother, Mrs Lee, entered the room and gasped. She picked up the phone and phoned pest control. The scorpion had harmed her child, she had no other choice.

A day later, the pest control arrived.  They saw the poor scorpion sitting on a rock. "theres one, lets kill it", said the sadistic pest control man, these people where not like the Lee family. These people wanted to build an industry here instead.
"I,ve learned my lesson please don't kill me....it was an accident", cried the scorpion.
Of course the human didn't understand and even if he had understood, his need to kill over whelmed him. He approached the scorpion.
"Please don't", cried the little scorpion as he scurried away as fast as his legs could carry him. "i don't want to die", cried the scorpion and he ran. Soon he came to a dead end.
luckily, he spotted a crane perched on a branch. "Please, sir, mr crane. Can you take me across the water on your back", the scorpion said politely. The crane shook his head, "You'll sting me, you'll kill me". The scorpion was so scared...
"but they will kill any living things they see so we will both die...i promise i wont sting you i just want to get across the water and run", he said.
The crane saw it in his heart to help the scorpion. "Hurry", he prompted.

The scorpion and the crane glided across the water, out of reach of man. They where half way over the lake when the crane felt a jab of pain in his back. Like a knife had been prised through his weak body. "Why...did you do that....now we'll both die", murmured the crane as the poison took effect and he started to drop towards the watery abyss.  The scorpion looks sorry for himself and clutched onto the dormant crane.

"I,m sorry....i couldn't help it. Its in my nature", the scorpion cried as they both dropped into a black hole of sorrow and sunk to the bottom of the lake.
