The way we hide
Why do I pretend I can't see you
and you can't see me
Living in our shadows
Hide ourselves real well
Painted up to apease society
Filling in the cracks of our fears
with our cold smiles
Watching with eyes hazed over
by their standards
And marching to a drummer
we never understood
Eclipsing our minds
Wrapping our desires up
in the rope they feed us
So they can't see
We love to hate them
Letting their quaint rituals
drag us down into a pool of something
we never wanted to experience
Something we didn't need to know

In the dark, you can take off
that costume they stitched for you
And breath the truth you hide
in a box under your bed
Cause their scared of the night,
the darkness, the abyss
you call a sanctuary
Knowing this
this becomes your home
A dwelling for those who created a truth,
incapable of thier understanding
Things become so clear
Masks can no longer camoflague
and bind you
Sanctity is yours, cutting out the brands they burned
with your sins
And fears melt away with their discretions
into a nothing you enjoy
