This is a poem analyzing the state of society
Silken words flow freely an enchanting syncopation
Alluring declarations in a rhythmic intonation
Enrapturing the mind through lyrical distortion
And capturing the soul, a spiritual abortion

Lost, we search for love, creatures of circumstance
Instead we find the shackles of a synthesized romance
We don’t know the reality and before we can consider
The auctioneer has sold our souls to the highest bidder

The industry of harmony, a prolific institution
It offers what can’t be refused, in exchange for revolution
Or evolution of morality into private interpretation
Morphed into carnality construed as liberation

Influencing every aspect of our self-centered existence
Authoring endorsements for the path of least resistance
All the while entangling our souls in unseen snares
Of lies and drugs and tears and thugs and deviant affairs

Now the pied piper has come to call a musical invitation
Now the siren sings the songs to enthrall a congregation
The note resounds enticing us to be what we are not
To live our lives as though we were a nation God forgot

Bop don’t walk
Fight don’t talk

Steal don’t buy
Shoot don’t cry

Curse don’t pray
Run don’t stay

Keep don’t give
Die don’t live

But the revolution of a constitution
Or the institution of a resolution
or the obligation of a reparation

Doesn’t matter in this generation of imitation
This imitation of life
For when the admiration of strife

Becomes the epitome of what it means to be
The meaning of free

Then we have forgotten

That the coolest doesn’t matter in hell’s expanse
For there, there is no redemption no second chance

So as you enjoy that song of  exploitation
Of your soul that has been sold for temporary satiation
Remember these words and  escape the coming  night
Shake off those chains and walk free in God’s Light
