This is a poem about horror and regret.
The Haunted Portrait

Up the whispering staircase,Above my Grandfather's room,
There hangs an oval portrait.
Closed within it's frame,a man I never knew.
Forever watchful His ebony eyes,following me;
Peering into the dark chambers of my soul.
From his crystal coffin he glares.
Enshrouded in a ghastly shadow,
Holding all the solemn dignity of a god,He watches!
Behind thehaunting gaze,treasures of immense sorrow,
And acres of regret.
A bewitching reverance chills my blood;
The stoic walls behind him breathing...
Fading are the moments,Forever stained the ageless
Horrors of antiquity.
