Safety Pin

I am light and compact, lost and rarely found
Stuck in the darkness with lint as my only friend
With no set purpose, I am called upon to save the day
Or relieve the pain of the stressful disarray
Red warmth gently touches my exterior; I cringe
I was meant for good, not evil
Meant to hold together, not to tear apart
Not meant for the destruction I am now capable of bringing
I'm losing myself as more and more tears convert me
The girl finds no other release
She confides in me
I can always be trusted to save the day
