For my husband while in Iraq.
I’m having one of those days

Maybe you don’t understand

I woke up and got the kids off to school

Came home did the dishes, swept the floor

I wonder where you are

Are you hurt?

Something more?

I sat down and cried

I really wish you were here

By my side

I want to hear you say

I made it baby, through another day

Don’t worry now, I’m okay

I really could just do this all day

But it’s back to business

Cut the grass, take out the trash

But I can’t shake it

I never thought I’d long to talk

On that damn satellite phone

Just call me I’m here, I’m home

Picked up the kids

McDonalds it is

Mommy what’s wrong

Nothin’ baby the day was just long

God don’t let them see me cry

I can’t explain it I don’t know why

Put on my sunglasses, powder my nose

Eat, play, head back that way

Bath and a story

Mommy lets pray

Baby, I’ve done that all day

Dear God up in heaven

See my daddy, he’s in the desert

It’s really sandy out there

I’m not sure but he might be scared

If he is will you tell him you’re there

Thank you Lord and P.S.

Would you give him this kiss.
