My first try at sonnet writing -- I'm wanting to try my hand at poetry in general
The Stone



Around my heart there hangs a tedious stone

Placed there by some who pain with selfish care

I reach and struggle with this weight of one

It pummels me and swings cold in the air

If I could clasp and fling it far away

And shake this burden that impedes desire

Then time could capture back for me my lay

Of passion, open arms and loves hot fire.

For the cure would be with this release

The hunger, loss and fear a passing piece
