My 2009 resolutions. The goals I set for myself and use as an entry to a WDC contest.
Dear Me,

As you submerge yourself into an new year, be encouraged that you can continue to find the sunshine in your life dispelling the darkness that at times tracks you down, envelopes you and tries to trick you into thinking there is no light.

Celebrate the days past you have had with a man who is a perfect "little girl's daddy." Do not let the difficult path he is traveling now being unable to do for himself dampen your spirit. It is the time you are to bathe, soothe, and comfort him. It is your time to be the example to your own children he has been in your life all these years. Do not falter; give him reason to be proud, to smile, to be the daughter he always brags that you are. This journey is for both of you, but not limited to you. It is a lesson for others around you to learn how to cope with growing old, not useless.

This will be the year you will make strides in writing you have dreamed of, yet buried years ago under a mountain of hurt, brokenness, and the normal raising children, working three jobs to support them and the many medical difficulties they experienced.

You will strive to do forty reviews in a positive, helpful, respectful, yet honest manner for other WDC members by April 30, 2009.

You will take at least one writing course through WDC to enhance the skills you lack. You will take to heart the suggestions and lessons to be learned from other writers.

You will learn more about rhyme and meter to enhance and become more accomplished in writing poetry.

You will learn how to better navigate the WDC website in order to take advantage of all these newly formed friends have to offer you as a person and as an author. You will become skilled at blogging and/or journaling.

You will not be disappointed to the point of depression if the deal on the mobile home you wish to purchase falls through. You will remember that you do not need "things" to be happy or content. Those things lie within your soul and you alone can rob yourself of this. You will cut back on hours of one of your jobs to enable you to accomplish these things. You will have more visits with your children because they are more important than money.

You will become even closer to your Creator than you are now. You will allow Him to guide your thoughts and give you strength to put them to action. You will laugh at least as much as you cry. You will dance and allow your spirit to speak not only to yourself but to others.

With faith and belief in you,

Sandy

P.S. You will have to revise one resolution. Daddy died January 27, 2009. In a sense you accomplished that resolution. However, in his memory you will visit nursing homes, question staff to find who has no visitors, then visit those once a month to read cards and letters to them. You will write letters for them and mail them. You will let them know there is at least one human who genuinely cares for them. If there is a program for animals, you will take Andy (small dog) to visits also. You can bet your Daddy will be watching and saying,*Thumbsup*"That's my daughter!"
