There was this man, Who came to death, And begged and begged, With all his breath.
There was this man,
Who came to death,
And begged and begged,
With all his breath.

“Oh dead” he said,
“I have to plea,
That you do,
One thing for me”

“Yes young Tim,” said Death to him,
“What is it you desire?”
“Is it life you want?
Or death you wish?
Or whom should I retire?”

“Not yet me” said he,
“I have only one request,
That I may die, an easy death,
And pain shall not protest!”

“Your will be done” Death said to one,
“But before you flee,
I tell you of what,
You must do for me!”

“What is your request?” Tim did bequest,
“But be sure that your desire,
Is something that,
I can acquire.”

“It is not hard” Death did canard,
“Another’s soul,
Will be your,
Only goal”

From the bosom of Death,
Man did now depart,
To start his quest,
To stop a heart.

He searched through lands,
Low and High,
To find the one,
Whose end was nigh.

In a little village,
Down by the sea,
At the end of the earth,
Where all is free.

He found the man,
Who’s soul he would trade,
He would take the life,
With the edge of a blade.

But the story does not end well,
I’m afraid,
For before he could kill,
He was betrayed.

As the man sat close,
On the edge of a bed,
Hovering over,
The soon to be dead.

Death did swoop down,
From out of the air,
And stopped the whole,
Horrid affair.

“Stop right now!” Death did howl,
“You would kill as told
To die without pain,
And have blood so cold!?”

“Since you are so eager,
To cause such strife,
You shall forever be cursed,
As the taker of all life!”

Then in a swirl of dust,
Death did disappear,
But his black cloak of suffering,
To the man, did adhere.

That man now roams the earth,
And is the cause of all banes,
Until some other foolish man comes,
To ask for no pains.
