Nearly titled, "Our Shiny New Man". I liked the way he used "rugged" in his inaugural.
There’s a new kind of man in the house so white.
Now we rush home at day’s end.
We sit and ponder our nation’s plight,
as the networks take fact and blend.

What orders were signed today?
With whom did he meet and discuss?
What panache was on display?
Over which policy did Congress fuss?

The first lady’s a barracuda I hear.
She’ll grin as she sinks her blade deep.
You are lucky if you have her ear.
The rest of them follow like sheep.

The long, rugged path toward prosperity,
he spoke to the millions that day.
The people did applaud with great clarity,
and hang on each word he did say.

With Kennedy and Lincoln he is combined.
Too soon is such lofty equivalence.
His route is both trapped and mined.
May God’s will be his deliverance.

Will he lead us to prosperity and peace?
The world has changed, we must too.
Has our freedom been but a lease?
Or do we own it, fee simple and true?

As we watch his family like pleebs,
we must caution ourselves not to gawk.
For as we peer there are thieves,
and villains continue to stalk.

God, guide and protect our new man,
as he sets a course fraught with mystery.
May we all assist as we can,
so his reign rings true in history.
