God of Mine

On a plinth you stand
in ancient Rome,
and covered in gold you hold
a torch of fire.

For you must not not age,
and you must not cry.
I will not allow it.

You will not show weakness,
but be forever iconic,
and like Zeus

never come down from the sky,
unless it is to die,
...and only then to take me with you.
