The prompt is a small flower growing out of a crack in the gutter. Written in 15 minutes
THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT

He peeked out of the crack expecting the worse.

Nothing.

Every time he had dared to come out, something bad happened. There were feet and tires and such; all out to get him. Some time ago, the threat had changed. The water that ran down the crack had stung, making him very sick.

Several bright/dark cycles had passed since then. For a while he felt he might not survive. Now as he peeked out, there were no threats anywhere. He swung to the left and right … nothing. He could see tires, but they were not moving. He could see feet, they seemed strange somehow. It was as if all of the feet had fallen over on their sides. None moved. Nothing moved anywhere.

He looked up at the sunlight as it crested a tall silent building. His petals unfolded to the dawn of a new day.
