Valina life turns upside down, all thanks to a secret, hidden by the mysteorus Jasper.
Chapter 1

The speakers are blasting at an inhuman level, and I know by the end of the night my all too sensitive ears will be killing me. But that’s the price to pay to have fun in this world; I think to myself and laugh out loud while dancing with some outrageously hot girl. I feel the sweat on her stomach mix with mine as we get even closer to each other while we are dance. Perverts are watching us as if they have never seen two girls dance, and I know they are hoping that we will just start taking off our clothes. Disgusting! And yet that is the price of being beautiful.
As the beat picks up so do I, and the world around me vanishes away. That’s the way it always is when I’m dancing, everyone and everything besides my partner and I vanish. The world is mine, and the way my body moves against my companion is the law. Her moves become nervous as I begin to get even more into the music and I get closer to her. As I am about to ask her what is wrong, but she blurts it out instead.
“Is this just a one night stand or the real deal?” She says in a almost pathetic cry. “I feel like we have a connection, and I don’t think I’m the only one feeling it, am I wrong?”
At this point I have heard enough. I don’t want to be some girls crush and then have her lead to a broken heart, and I definitely don’t want a relationship with anyone. Best to just end it now before she gets hurt, too much.
Thankfully the song has just ended so as I start to pull away from her so it doesn’t look like I’m rushing to get away from her, even though I am. After I have pushed a good few inches away from the girl, I look at her forehead doing anything to avoid her eyes and simply say, “Your wrong.” And walk away.
As I am walking away I have decided that it is time to leave the club, drama, relationships, love, and all those other messy and confusing things are just not my thing. I have not yet found anyone worth going to those things for. I thought I did once, but I was wrong. I laugh out loud once again, recalling my past, and the fact that now, after a hundred years I am able to admit that I was wrong.
I can still remember everything as if it was happening right now, even if I wish that I didn’t. And as I am driving home I allow myself to recall those events that were once so precious to me.
I was standing by the rainbow river. Well, at least that’s what Elizabeth and I used to call it, for many reasons, one of them being the fact that this was the one place we felt happy. The one place we went to when the world was harsh to us and we knew everything was okay again. It’s also called the rainbow river because Elizabeth and I are in love.
As I’m staring out in this beautiful river, I’m filled with happiness, and then suddenly I felt a gentle tug, pull up my shirt. I can already tell by the fingertips grazing my skin that it is Elizabeth. I quickly turn around and fall into her arms. It felt so good to be held by her, until I noticed she was crying, and that even in the rainbow river, something was definitely not okay.
I sigh as I pull away from my thoughts. Yes I admit they were good times, but she isn’t here anymore, and no one who is here is worth. That’s why I am not interested in anyone.
Just as I think this my cell rings. I can tell by the song playing, Semiotic love, that’s it is my best friend Branden, and despite what I just said I do love him. Not in a romantic way of course but as a brother.
“Hey there sexy.” I say as I answer his call. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing much, sweetie.” He says and blows a kiss into his phone. “Where are you?”
I blow a kiss back, and say “driving home. Why?”
“Just wondering if you wanted to hang, catch a movie maybe, with Sage and I.”
“Sure. I’ll be at your house in five.” I say and hang up.
I haven’t seen either of my best friends in a week or so. I begin wondering why as I take a U-turn and head to Brandens’ house.
“Valina!” Sage calls as I pull up to Branden’s drive way.
“Sage!” I yell back and rush out of the car to give her a hug.
Branden starts walking out of his house soon after. His long black bangs covering one eye. So scene I think to myself and laugh out loud.
“Someone is in a good mood.” Branden notices as he gives me a hug.
I smile at him. “Why yes I am.”
“You can tell us all about it on the way to blockbuster.” Sage says as she gets into the passenger seat of my car.
“I’m in the back again?” Branden complains as he opens the right side of the back seat door.
“Looks like it Bran.” Sage laughs.
“Don’t worry about it Bran.” I say, “this way, if you pick up a hot guy he can sit in the back with you.”
“Hmm, I like that plan.” Bran says, wiggling his eyebrows.
Brandon has been out of the closet since the day he was born. He has had a few boyfriends here and there but nothing serous. Just mostly Sage and I begging him to tape whatever he does with them. I mean I have to admit Bran is on fire, with his long black hair with pale blond streaks. His skinny yet muscular body, his beautiful face, and to top it all off green eyes.
Sage is also quite a sight. Her hair is bright blonde with black on the bottom layer. Another scene kid, I think and roll my eyes smiling. Big blue eyes. Amazing body, not to skinny, not to thick, just right. I remember when I used to have a small crush on her. I look at her now and laugh it off.
“So tell us about the wonderful thing that makes you so happy.” Bran said, cutting off my laughter.
“Oh it’s nothing, just in a good mood.”
“Wake up on the right side of the coffin?” Sage asks and laughs.
“I guess so.” I say as I pull up at blockbuster.
Bran is the first out of the car and I can see him standing next to the tree that I have parked by, covering his eyes as it he had binoculars.
“What the hell are you doing?” Sage says as she gets out of the car as well.
“Looking for hot guys.” He answers, using his elbow to point to the back seat. “It’s lonely back there.”
“Last one to blockbuster has to pay for the movies!” I yell as I dash over to the movie store.
Sage and Branden are right at my feet as I reach the door. When I open it I quickly look back to see who the sucker that has to pay is.
Just as I suspected it was Sage and as she reaches me she gives me a cold look.
“You will regret this.” She says and smiles her evil smile that she does so well.
“Suuure.” I reply and I head off the romantic section.
“Not another romantic movie!” Sage complains.
“Stop being so jealous just cause you can’t get any Sage.” Bran teases.
“Oh, I can get some, anytime, anyplace.” Sage says and shoots her sexiest smile at a random stranger. “How about me and you get out of here and do something fun?”
The random looks at her, clearly blushing and looking completely confused. “Um, you mean me?” He asks.
“Yes, silly. How about it?” She asks again, still flashing her smile.
“Um, sure.” He says and grins.
I roll my eyes and whisper to Bran, “Look what you’ve done. Poor guy…”
“At least he’s gonna get some.” Bran says wiggling his eyebrows. “Wonder if he likes threesomes.”
“Ugh.”
“Okay fine, foursome if you wanna join.” He jokes
“Pig! Even gay guys are pigs. What is wrong with this world?” I say and push him slightly.
“So when are we gonna get out of here?” The guy asks.
“Your cute,” Sage says ruffling his hair, “but I’m a lesbian.”
“Of course you are.” He says and walks off.
Bran and I start cracking up as soon as he is out of ear shot.
“Welcome to the team!” Bran says and holds up his had for a high five.
“You wish Bran, I am half way there though.” She replies.
“Me too!” I yell and continue laughing
“Half way doesn’t count, you guys suck.” Bran shoots at us, and begins laughing again.
“Sorry, but I need some dick in my life sometimes.” Sage laughs.
I nod and begin looking at the romantic movie section.
“Lets get a gay love one this time guys!” Bran pleads.
“Ha, of course you want us to get horny Bran,” I tease. “Your just pretending to be gay so then you can take advantage of pretty girls like us.”
“You wish!”
“Of course we do Bran, cause you are oh so hot, take me now!” I tease. “Before I have to beg you!”
“Take me too Bran!” Sage joins in. “I need you in me!”
“Take it easy girls, I don’t like them so easy.” Bran laughs.
“But we need you!” We scream together.
“Well, I have to help the girls in need,” Bran teases. “Good luck getting Branden Jr. up though…”
We laughed together and went searching for a movie. God I loved my friends. I think as a smile forms on my face.
“I’m gonna go look in the comedy section and find a real movie.” Sage says as she walks off.
“I’ll come with!” Bran yells and follows Sage to the comedy section.
Losers. I think to myself and roll my eyes, as I’m doing this they settle on a movie, ‘Music and Lyrics’. I look at it and sigh, I don’t know what wrong with me but ever since that movie was made it has always held my attention, even though I’ve never seen it, every time I try something goes wrong. When I went to the theater to see it, the screen blew up ten minutes before the scheduled time. Then last time I came to rent it, lighting stuck the building and the lights went out, computer shut down. Someone out there doesn’t want me to see that movie; I just wish I knew why.
I look around some more, avoiding the area where the forbidden movie sits. Then I see ‘The Notebook’ and I smile to myself, great movie. I bet its even better than ‘Music and Lyrics’ I say, sticking my tongue out at the movie. After laughing at my stupidness, I walk over to the comedy section to meet up with the buds.
“Whatcha get romance girl?” Bran asks peeking at the movie I’m holding.
“The Notebook.” I say and smile.
“I heard that movie makes straight boys cry.” Bran laughs.
“I’m so not in the mood for crying, Val.” Sage whines.
“Then get a comedy and we will watch it right after, cry baby.” I say to her. “If you haven’t seen this movie, you haven’t lived.”
“Valina, none of us have really ‘lived’” Sage states.
“We are to bad ass to be alive.” Bran agrees.
“Undead buds forever!” Sage yells, grabbing a movie and linking her arms with Bran and I.
As we walk passed the romance section, I catch a glimpse at a handsome man picking up the forbidden movie. I look up at my friends to make a comment, but when I look back he is gone. I bite my lip to hide my disappointment, and kept walking.
