A story of father and son and how one small question turned into a long lasting tradition.
One day a young boy walked in to his father’s room and saw his dad with his head down. He taped his dad on the shoulder and asked him “what was wrong”. A few seconds later his dad looked up and said “I’m praying”. Curious, the boy asked “What is that?” the father explained the best way he could. “It’s a way the tell God your problems, so he can help you and it’s also a way you can thank him for everything he’s given you.” Interested the boy asked the father to teach him how to pray. So the next night the father went in to the boy’s room and sat with him. “I’m going to say a sentence and your repeat after me, ok.” The father told him. The boy nodded in understanding. “Dear, God please keep my family safe.” The boy repeated. “Please help my family with any problems we have and any we face in the future.” The boy repeated. “Thank you for everything you’ve given us.” The boy repeated. “I love you very much, in Jesus name Amen.” And the boy repeated.

Every night for weeks the boy and his
Father would sit down and the boy would repeat everything his dad would say. Soon the boy could recite the whole thing without the father saying anything. And sometimes they would say it together. But one night after finishing the prayer the father
Looked down at the boy and asked “Is there something you would like to add?” the boy said in amazement “I can do that!” the father nodded and smiled. The boy thought and a few seconds later he said “Ms. Keepinprayers is sick could I pray about her?” the father smiled and nodded. “Dear God please help Ms. Keepinprayers she very sick and we would love to see her well again please help her, in Jesus name Amen.” After that night they would repeat the prayer and the boy would
Add everything on his mind. But on a special night the Father and boy sat down and the boy waited for the father to start the prayer. But the father said  “You say your own pray, tell God what’s your happy and sad about; he cares about you.” So the boy said his prayer: “Dear God thank you for everything you have given my family and I. thank you for letting me get an “A” on my test and thank you for letting daddy and I being able to pray every night together I’ve really enjoyed it. And P.S that you for
Letting Ms. Keepinprayers get better it was nice seeing her again. In Jesus name Amen. Surprised at how good the prayer was the father hugged the boy and started to cry. “My son you have learned how to pray.” So every night the son and father would pray out loud one prayer from the son and another from the father. And when the young boy grew up and had his daughter; he and his young daughter did the same thing and she too learned how to pray.

So parents teach your children how to pray. Because that is one of the greatest gifts you could ever give your child because not only gets your closer to your child but it gets the child closer to God.
