Did you aim for that pothole?
This little snippet of my life will include a snippet from my friend's life also. Both are about the same subject; driving with the hubby in the passenger seat.

Mine first. My husband in one of his less than intelligent moments, recieved second and third degere burns to his chest and the palms of both hands. As a result he couldn't drive for a couple weeks and I was the one in the driver's seat during that time. On one of our trips to town he was not happy with the excellent driving skills I was exhibiting. (He probably was jealous of my expertise) I managed to run over a pothole which startled the car. It jumped a little when it came in contact with the unexpected, yet slight obstacle. Now you would have thought that my hubby would have appreciated how well I overcame the cars jolt and kept in a straight, on-down-the-road direction. Instead he snorted, "You aimed straight for that one didn't you?" I could have burst into tears and let him have it. Telling him it was his own fault that he had to endure what he thought was a driving deficiency on my part would have felt pretty good. But I just calmly replied, "Well, yes I did! And I think I did a pretty good job of it. That one was hard to hit."

Now for my friend. She has a hubby just about like mine when it comes to riding in the passenger seat. He offers suggestions for improving her driving skills at every opportunity that comes his way. Well, in a couple weeks he has to have surgery for a hip replacement. They attended the obligatory living with a hip replacement training session. At the end of the session they were discussing what would occur after the surgery and things they would have to prepare for. Ernie was told he couldn't drive for two months. This meant Rytha would be the operator of the vehicle during that entire time. My friend looked at the full mustache under her hubby's nose. She told him he was going to have to shave it off. The leader of the session and her hubby both looked puzzled and asked why. She replied, "Because I don't want to hurt you when I tear the duct tape off your mouth after we return from our trips to town."

I love duct tape!
