poem about a beacon signifying love_ honourable mention in Novice Writer's Guild.
The Beacon

I am a lump of clay,
and you are the potter;
Though I am a tool in your hands
you love me and give various shapes.

Don't make me a toy,
used for children's joy;
For they will tamper with
my beauty and injure me.

Don't make me an idol,
worshipped by people;
Coz they might desecrate me
when all I want is holiness.

Don't make me a decorative piece
used to embellish museums;
for toadies would flatter me
and lavish me with unwanted praise.

Make me a beacon
that will end sorrow's darkness
by flooding light of happiness
and act as a signal of love!
